Retake: Magazine Photographs

This image was taken just to see how it would look with just two members of the band and took it for a back up just incas i needed an extra picture.

This image as free poster that can be one in my magazine, i decided to use this because i thought that is was a calm and collected image for a poster.

i really loved this image mainly because of the angle that it is at i think that image also could have been used for my double page spread,but i decided to use the picture where the models had microphones as props.

This was the image that i decided to use for my front cover i used this image because i thought it was the best image i have taken of the models. i loved the way the models were so so close together which made the image look beautiful. them sitting so closely together shows that they are comfortable with each other like a girl band is meant to be.

This the image that i used for my contents page the reason why i decided to use this image was because i liked the way the models were posing also i decided to use this image because this was the best portrait image that i took of the girls. it was vital for me to use a portrait image.

I like this sketch because the concept behind it due to the use of props involved i think having an idea of using a guitar is very different and unique for an rabid b magazine as they don't really use instruments. i think that the concepts

evaluation of graphs

I asked equal amounts of gender so that i can get an equal and fair response and i can compare what each gender wants, because at this stage i dont know if my magazine is going to be aimed at males or females so it will bw good to hear each of there responses.

The majority of the people that i asked were 17 years old the reason why i asked each person there wage is to find out how similar or how different there tastes are in the stuff that they like.

The majority of my audience are from a black ethnicity so i might target my magazine at this ethnicity if i want my magazine to be well read ,but looking at the results it is not cumpulsory because people from white ethnicity are aklso of a high figure.

This question tells me that my magazine needs to be aimed at the normal class people because alot of my target market are from there so this help me determine my price range because i make the price too high then the people that i am targeting my magazine will not buy it.

This tells me that there is a gap in the market for my magazine because there are alot of people that read magazines occassionally this also mean that 16-18 have to definatly be part of the people i have please in order for my magazine to be successful.

In order for my magazines to sell or be of any interest to my target audience i must include tour dates of singers because that is by far the highest of what they would like to see i can also include album releases because that is the second best by me asking this type of question i will be of an advantage because i know exactly what my target market want so there is no excuse for my magazinenot to be flying of the shelves.

this shows that in order to keep my audience sweet and happy i have to make my articles short and straight to the point if not i would just be boring them with alot of reding and that is not what i want at all i want them to feel satisfied.

Iknew that by me asking this question i will be opening up a whole lot of opinions so this question will not really be helping me at all because by choosing the most popular colour schemes i will not be pleasing everybody so i have got to take the information in to consideration but have to think about what is best for my magazine.

This graph is simply telling me that already without even making my magazine i will have alot of customers so if i include everything that they want they will be more than happy to purchase my magazine.

This graph is telling me that i have to set my price range of between £1.00 -£2.00 other wise my magazine might not be bought because more than 50% said that this is the price that they are willing to pay for a magazine.

all of my audience want my magazine to be issued weekly and monthly so what i need to do is just choose which one is comfortable for me because i will not be making any body unhappy but normally magazines are issued every month.

Having an advice coloumn is kind of essential because almost all of them want to have this so while making my magazine i have take this into account.

This is telling me that a little bit of everything is what my audience wants not just rnb which might be difficult i think that it could be done.

Textual Analysis of Double Page spread

This double page spread is interesting and quite unique in bringing it’s message across. This double page spread is different from most of the double page spread I have seen normally there is only one image present and that is of the person that the article is about posing for the camera but this one present has two images shown which an audience of fans that are screaming and enjoying what seems to be a concert and another image is the guy that the article is about and other people with him which could be artists that are there to help enhance his performance on stage a great thing about this image is that the image seems real and natural unlike others that have probably been taken over and over again to make the image perfect. These are one of many things that make the double page spread stand out and different. The rapper who the article is about is his name is in black but it does not stand out because his name is not big and bold and in the centre it is in the corner so we can still see it before we read the article but it is not just an in your face title like the rest of the articles I read and see. His words that he said are written in capital letters and the colour of it is red which makes these specific words grab our attention because red is the only bright colour that is on this article. His words were “my main objective was not to be a rapper but to find a way out”. This could mean a lot of things like by him being a rapper was a way for him to stay out of trouble and making himself stay away from crime to make money so he used his talents to make money which by the sounds of it is rapping. The article lay out is different because one image is at the top right hand corner and another image is at the bottom left corner. So it makes the article looks like it has been split into the four boxes. There is another one of what he says in written bigger than the font that the article was written in but it is in the same colour writing as the article. The whole article is in black and white which is also unusual and that is the reason why the red writing stands out from the article.

I have decided to research the publishing house of ipcmedia this is because when I went on there website I found out that they publish some of the magazines that I am interested in and the ones that I read. I have also discovered that they have diverse print and digital portfolio which offers something for everyone, with a focus on three main audiences which are men, mass market women and upmarket women. This is very good because they target everybody so there really is not a chance of them failing and worried that that they are not giving everybody what they want. Ipcmedia publish the most known magazine titles this includes for men. Nuts and loaded which is mens entertainment magazine they also publish sport magazines such as , horse and hound, rugby world, Decanter, mini world, race car, world soccer, motor caravan, motor boats, cycling and cycling sport. They also offer music magazines such as NME. The magazine names that they publish for mass market women Consists of fashion magazines such as Look and Now. Also gossip celeb magazines such as Chat, women, womens own, prediction, pick me up, Hair and Fate. They also publish TV entertainment brands such as what’s on TV, TV brands, TV and satellite week, Soap life, TV easy. For the upmarket women they produce fashion magazines such as Marie Claire, in style. But mostly home magazines for this type of market such as women and home, essentials, ideal home, house to home, livingetc. The reason why ipc target different is because they want to be recognised to all member of the public. Also by them trying to reach everybody they are building a good name for themselves because they are not trying to be bias to one specific audience for example just music. I do not think that the company has any other interests but to publish magazines.

Textual analysis of magazine front cover

A man is in the centre of the magazine and all the writing is all around him. The image is very symmetrical.
The coverlines go around the image stating what will be in the magazine. The only coverline that is not placed around the image is the coverline that is talking about the guy that is on the front cover. Also the colours used to write about his coverlines are a different colour to the rest of the coverlines. Everything written about him is all in two colours. The colour red that is used could be represented as him being guilty without actually saying that he is guilty. The person in the image looks confused and sad that why is he going through this trial and tribulations. The way his hands are placed on where his temple is suggests that he is distressed and fed up with the allegations put upon him. Or this could also mean that he might be guilty and regrets what he has done. His face could mean two things angry or him being sorry. Also there is low key lighting in the background and like a spotlight on his face this makes him look like he is in prison and he is being questioned by the police. This is also apparent due to the background colour which is grey which also makes him look like he is in prison. In one of the coverlines being represented it says “guilty of being rich, black, and famous” this coverline shows that the magazine is being biased and they do not think that he is guilty that he is being framed because he is black and successful and the peron accusing him probably wants his money. Even though the allegations of him sleeping with under age girls are really strong it does not even say what he is being accused of on the front cover because people already know and the stage he is at know is going on trial, which makes the allegation serious but the magazine is not portraying this. The coverlines show that this is an rnb magazine because of the names shown. There are no props represented on the front cover I think this is because of the image being shown and the topic behind it. There are no costumes either apart the red shirt he is wearing. Also on the top corner it tells us what else R.kelly is up to so he is the main focus on the magazine front cover. R.kelly looks unclean because he has a beard coming on when normally he has a clean shave this shows that he is under a lot of pressure and stress. The magazine name which is the masterhead is bold and is written in lower case which shows that the magazine is not very formal. The colour of the masterhead is black which makes it stand out from the rest of the magazine because Black is the traditional colour of magazine titles and also it contrasts with the red and the yellow shown in the coverlines. Something unusual that is not normally seen on magazine front covers are writing written in capitals above the masterhead so when people see the magazine the first thing they see is R.kelly’s name which for this particular issue will make readers buy the magazine because people familiar with the rapper’s case will want to know what is happening with him. All the coverlines are in the same font apart from the one to do with R.kelly to make his coverline stand out from the rest. There is a coverline that is written at the bottom right corner of the magazine because it does not have anything to do with rnb artists so it is not very important but is still on the cover to show that the magazine is not just music related.
